is locally grown food healthier? 〰️

The main health benefit of locally grown food is that it’s fresher. Fruits and vegetables begin to lose their nutrients within 24 hours of being picked, so fresher produce is more nutritious. In addition, locally grown food is picked at it’s peak ripeness, when it’s most dense with nutrients.

A Quick Word from the Farmer

Mini Acre Farm has become the trusted grower of microgreens, edible flowers and herbs for the home chef and for restaurants in Hampton Roads.

Owner Seth began his farm journey as a homeschool project, growing for fun and the family table. Today, Seth’s grown Mini Acre Farm to serve restaurants from Hampton to Toano, where his produce is used by the region’s top and most revered restaurants and chefs.

During Covid, Mini Acre Farm shifted from exclusively serving restaurants and began to cater to the home chef with front door delivery and flexible farm pickups, while still offering exceptional products and personal customer service.

Located in Newport News, VA on less than an acre of property, Mini Acre Farm practices ‘organic growing methods’, avoiding chemicals and pesticides by using natural, holistic and integrated pest management methods.
